Chair

Badwood
Once again, deadlines won't allow me to create something new this week, so I offer this "chair" that I did some time ago. It was for a story about how insane it is to sacrifice old-growth, exotic species of trees for the sake of high-end lawn furniture.

Extremely powerful! I love the contrast and the simplicity of the idea. Awesome illustration!

Great illustration for that story. At first I thought it was the work of some really talented beavers. The problem with cutting the old-growth timber is one we face here in California with our magnificent stands of redwoods.

I agree with the insanity in that. I find it interesting that this image really can go both ways too, depending on the opinion of the viewer. Really nicely done (I agree too - the edges of the wood look like beaver chewings).

Great picture and really , it is insane to do things like that just because someone has enough money. Argh. But I love your picture and the message to go with it.

Thanks, all, for the kudos.
Ascender, it's acrylics, but I use acrylics much like watercolor, especially for textures and foliage. I work in thin glazes and use sponges, toothbrushes and anything else I can get my hands on to make natural things look gnarly and rich.

You certainly make the point! On a lioghter note, I was thinking at first that it was some magic chair deep within the forest...the loght that filters through the trees is almost heavenly! Beautiful work Rick!
