Black and White

black&white

The first idea that popped into my head was Michael Jackson, you know, before and after. But, that's a tired story, and just too pathetic to address. So, I thought of natural things that are black and white, and of course the usual suspects were considered, such as zebras and skunks and magpies, but for some reason I suddenly thought of a lemur; a very elegant and formal looking creature with just enough color to make it visually startling.

Really nice illustration. I remember as a kid having a natural world encyclopedia and the illustrations of Lemurs were my favorite and most often looked at pages.

great composition and really lovely lemur
Is this done in Painter?
I started doing a black and white tamarin initially then gave up as it just wasn't coming together properly so went with the zebra and magpie ideas

Alison-
I did this in Photoshop. I thought about using Painter, but went with a more familiar app.

Charlie-
I remember being fascinated by the lemur photos in National Geographic as a boy, as well. Did you see the PBS program about lemurs that was hosted by John Cleese? It was fabulous...worth ordering the DVD.

I worked on this for about 2 hours, I guess...long enough to put off paying the bills for a little while.

As for M.J., maybe someday when I'm bored silly and need to amuse myself.

Sweet. It looks very good and realistic. I love the strong color of the eyes against the black and white.
